Top 100 Values of 2014
“This is an amazing value, a $12 viognier that hits all the variety’s hallmarks: creamy texture, peachy flavor, violet overtones. It’s a little hot, but that could be forgiven with pork chops back with apricots.”
“Le Verger” refers to the beautiful apricot orchard that is close to the vineyards that produce our Viognier.
Our Viognier grapes come from vineyards in the village of Argeliers that is located in the hills of the Minervois appellation. The slightly cooler climate and gravelly soils help enhance the lovely aromatics of the Viognier grape.
After a short skin maceration and gentle pressing, the juice stays at 0°C for ten days before fermentation takes place in order to produce and enhance its fruity aromas. Fermentation is maintained at 13°C to express all the aromatic potential and to bring balance to the wine. After that, the wine stays on its lees to achieve body and optimal expression. No oak was used during the winemaking process.
