“Tortoise Creek 2011 Cuvee Jeanne Sauvignon Blanc (Cotes de Gascogne). A fresh, fragrant and herbaceous wine, this dances lightly and brightly on the palate. Flavors of grapefruit and lime come with crisp acidity, lending a mouth-tingling finish.”
“Cuvée Jeanne” refers to “Janie’s Blend”.
Tortoise Creek Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the region of Gascony, France which lies to the south east of Bordeaux. The region is also well known as the producer of Armagnac.
The juice from the crushed grapes stays at 0°C for ten days before fermentation begins in order to produce and enhance its fruity aromas. Fermentation is maintained at 13°C to express all the aromatic potential and to bring balance to the wine. After the fermentation, the wine rests on its lees for a while to achieve more body and fullness. No oak is used in this wine.
Tasting Notes & Food Paring
Our Sauvignon Blanc “Cuvee Jeanne” is beautifully balanced and aromatic with suggestions of passion fruit and grapefruit. The palate is crisp and dry but not too acidic with a good depth of flavor. The wine is perfect as an aperitif or with chicken, fish or creamy pasta dishes.
